In an early morning on Jan 03, 2016, I went to Okhla Bird Sanctuary to take some find some birds and take some amazing pictures as I had heard people do that before. With my new Nikon D5200 and my new Tamron 70-300mm telephoto lens, my senses were beaming with excitement. I usually am high on energy levels but this time I felt I had some extra bit of energy. Perhaps it was due to my excitement that I was going to visit to the Okhla Bird Sanctuary with my new zoom lens.
It was fairly cool and I had my fleece jacket to keep me warm. It was a bit foggy on the river side but I still went clicking like a maniac in the video game who never pulls his finger off the trigger. Walked across the entire bird sanctuary and before I knew it was approaching 5:00 PM, when the gates get locked. It was time to pack up and head back home.
The moment I stepped out of the main gates, I saw these kids playing in the sand on the side of the road. It was cold but they didn’t have many clothes on their body. I asked them where they lived and they told me they lived in some slums nearby. I asked them if I could take a picture and they were happy to pose for me. I gave them some money and told them that I would come the next day and bring something for them.
That evening I left with a heavy heart. I wanted to give them something .. maybe feed them and give them something to cover their body but there was nothing nearby. Unfortunately, I wasn’t even carrying much cash with me. The next day I returned with some food and snacks and a blanket but I could not find them anywhere. I asked around also but in vain.
It has been almost a year now and I still think about them. I have been to that place so many times but still I never found them again.
